HELLO, I'M SEIKO!

I am a PhD-chemist turned homeschool mom and surface pattern designer based in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

Ever since I launched my handmade baby business, Waku Waku Baby in 2019, my dream has been to design my own fabric patterns that represent my artistic voice. Five years later, I am beyond excited that my dream has come true.

I design patterns that are happy and playful that tell a story and capture the magic of childhood.

Motherhood not only helped me reconnect with my true passion, art and design, but it has also helped me reconnect with my Japanese roots. I love to incorporate a little bit of my upbringings into my design work as well.

MY INSPIRATION

My two little ones (now 6 and 3) are the constant source of my inspirations.

It's the small moments that bring me and my kids great joy and that is what I strive to capture in my hand-drawn motifs which I then digitize into seamless repeating patterns using adobe illustrator.

I love to work in collections as they allow me to tell a story of my inspiration. My mission is to bring smiles to people's faces. I'd love for you to take a look through and I hope my patterns bring a smile to your face.
